SCHOOL DAYS

Those days began breaking my heart
never did I want to leave my home
Playroom, toys and, love
Left behind
Little did I know
I'd find another family here.

Every misunderstanding
Every unfinished conversation
Every time I said "That's not what I meant"
I wished through my soul
I find these people back again.

When hugs left no trace of catfights,
Sweet were those punishments
When your name was on the board
Lying next to your friends,
When teacher changing your places
for talking out too loud
Meant the mark of pure buddy bond,
When eleven o'clock tasted like biscuits
And four o'clock honked happiness,
When a breath of relief in unison
Happened for every homework left unchecked,
When hope was nothing
But to have no classes shuffled every year,
When affection was
having your dearest teacher for another year,
When tears and patch up was always so pure,
When seeing your pal up on stage
made you prouder than ever,
A gush of memories,
Clobbered your soul
Every time you're here.

Splitting up together years after,
Having a red thread knit through us all
Savoring those morsels of memories
Passing by this space every time
I resent saying "I want to grow up"
Looking back I'd say to my younger self
You're with the right peer now
Stay there as long as you can
For when you leave this place
It'll never be the same,
The moment you step out
You know you're leaving behind
The joy of a lifetime
Pure and Yum.
